Getting Started
Engarde DDoS is a cloud-based platform for DDoS testing and simulation. In this guide, you will find the steps for account access, target definition, and running your first test.
First steps
- Account access: Sign in to the Engarde DDoS interface. If needed, you can access it 24/7 with your own credentials or with Engarde operator guidance.
- Target and parameters: Enter the target address (IP/domain) and simulation parameters (protocol, traffic type, etc.). The test becomes ready in a short time.
- Start test: After confirming parameters, start the simulation. Monitor bytes, packets, concurrent users, latency, and protocol-level metrics live from the dashboard.
- Stop test: Stop traffic at any time with the "Stop test" action. You can then access the detailed test report.
Concepts
- Node: Distributed units that generate simulation traffic; you can test from different regions.
- Attack monitor: Screen where attack-side metrics (bytes, packets, concurrent users, latency) are monitored live.
- Target monitor: Screen where target response time and status information are monitored.
- Test report: Summary generated after the run; includes duration, traffic volume, and target behavior.
Important notes
- For initial runs, start with short duration (e.g. 1-2 minutes) and low intensity.
- Make sure the target address is authorized for testing and required permissions are in place.
- When you stop the test, traffic is cut immediately; report generation continues with data collected up to that moment.
Next steps
Use Node Management for node onboarding and region configuration, and Reports and Monitoring for attack/target monitor and report analysis. For the attack types list, see the Engarde DDoS product page.
